As soon as we visited the hotel, we had a clear vision of where we wanted to take the design. The hotel is surrounded by incredible views of the countryside and benefits from large panoramic windows in the restaurant, so we wanted to bring the colour palette from outside in with lots of natural materials and textures to be representative and give continuity throughout. The repositioning of the bar was to utilise wasted space that was central to the hotel which enabled us to create a real heart within the hotel. With limited natural light in this area it made sense to go with a dramatic full height fluted bar with gold highlights and a combination of concealed and feature lighting to emphasise the different areas.

The hotel loved our ideas and together we have transformed it into a beautiful contemporary boutique hotel with the most incredible fine dining in the Lake District.
