Why should you hire an Interior Designer?

Updated: Jun 4

Welcome to Amy Nicholas Interiors. We are really excited that you are considering working with us on your interior project and completely understand that it can be a daunting prospect, and a difficult decision, to put yourselves in someone else’s creative hands. This is your house, your office, your business and it should reflect who you or your company are.

We aim to make the whole process a collaborative and enjoyable experience and we pride ourselves on our friendliness, our flexibility and our ability to create schemes that not only meet your brief but exceed it. That is why we make sure we are always transparent about what we offer, how we charge and what you can expect from the outset.

The first stage of any design process, and one of the most important, is to meet you and find out your vision for the project. We can do this with a site visit or via a zoom call at your convenience. We want to get an idea of your personality, your style and how you want to feel in each room. What will you use the space for? Who will live or work in it? What is your ultimate wish list? This all goes towards understanding what you really want, even if you don’t quite know yourself. It’s our job to use all of this information to ensure our designs aren’t just elegant show homes but liveable, workable spaces that bring joy and enhance your life, not hinder it.

Following this discovery discussion, and when you feel comfortable to go ahead, we can offer a wide range of design packages to suit any project – from styling only options, to a full house design with floor plans and CGI’s. Whatever option you choose we will go through the details of this with you, so you know what is included and are ready to go ahead.

...we look forward to meeting you.....

The benefits of using an interior designer

What are the benefits of choosing to use an Interior Designer? Well, there are many different reasons and it depends on why you may need help! Maybe you have a clear view of what you like, but don’t know how to pull this all togetherto make a cohesive vision? Perhaps you don’t know what your style is and want to explore the options and find what appeals to you. Or possibly you just look at a room and cannot see past the current out-dated décor. We are here to help with all of this! Here’s a few things to take into account:

Budget and Savings

Whilst of course you are paying extra for an Interior Designers' services, overall you can save money and end up with a far superior finish. Once you have agreed a budget, we are able to work towards that and help designate that expenditure to the areas needing it most. We know what to spend more on to make the maximum impression and can use our contacts to get the best possible prices and most reliable contractors to carry out any renovations.

Products and Sourcing

As interior designers we have trade access to many fabrics, furniture and other products that are not widely available. We know where to look for certain items, where to get the best quality and the best prices. We can source truly unique or bespoke products that can give your project a personalised and individual style. Designing a room and trawling the shops or the internet for that perfect product can also take up a huge amount of your time - hiring an interior designer takes this time consuming job off your hands!

Make the most of your space

Through the use of mood boards, floorplans and CGI's, we can help you visualise your space before you commit to each and every aspect. We have the expertise to ensure that we maximise the total space, the natural light and the character that the room has. We think about the logistics of the space, how it will be used and how we can add value by creating a more liveable and usable environment.

Attention to detail is also a matter of pride for us, so our aim is to deliver a professional quality finish on each project, from furniture to light switches and curtains poles to door handles.

What our clients say about us

Why choose us.

Please take a look at a couple of our testimonials from some very happy customers!

"Professionalism personified from the first contact through to completion of a full redesign and refurb of our old farmhouse. Amy and her team were knowledgeable, personable and reliable throughout the process with none of the "snootiness" often associated with designers. Their down to earth approach combined with the latest in design ideas, trends and supplies have created a stylish home beyond our expectations. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend for any project large or small, contemporary or classical.”

Amy recently came to visit us to see the completion of our latest project. This was a big job which involved a complete refurbishment of the hall/landing/stairs and downstairs cloakroom. Having worked with Amy on several projects I knew that the end result would be just as we wanted. The hallway is now a very welcoming and light space and the choice of furniture and lighting is lovely. The downstairs cloakroom is great and Amy’s choice of dramatic wallpaper along with the very pretty taps and basin have turned this little room into a very special place. I really enjoyed working with Amy and I’m looking forward to the next project.
